“Hocus Pocus 2” is Coming to Disney Plus

Disney Plus has officially announced a new Hocus Pocus movie, is set to be released just in time for Halloween 2022.

The original film was released in 1993 and starred Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy as three witches who were resurrected in Salem, Massachusetts. All three are returning for the sequel, which begins production in the fall.

The sequel will see three young women accidentally bring the Sanderson Sisters back to modern-day Salem.

I always get nervous when decades later we return to beloved films but I feel confident this will work. The first film thrives by the wonderful chemistry of Midler, Parker and Najimy so having them return is half the battle.

I’m still a little nervous this could be too much of a retread of the original but also have faith in Anne Fletcher to bring a new story to life.
