Chris Hemsworth Steps Into the Ring for Hulk Hogan Biopic

It appears that Chris Hemsworth is going to be saying his prayers, and taking his vitamins because he’s been tagged for an upcoming Hulk Hogan biopic. The film is set to be directed by Todd Phillips (The Hangover, Joker) and will be released for Netflix.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news about the team up of Hemsworth staring in Phillips Hulk Hogan biopic. The script is to be handled by Scott Silver, who also co-wrote the Joker script with Phillips. Hogan who started his career in the late 70’s, and went on to achieve superstar status in the 80s, when he became the major fixture for the World Wrestling Federation (Now the WWE). In addition to wrestling Hogan also appeared in films like Rocky IIISuburban Commando, and everyone’s favorite, Mr. Nanny.

The biopic is set to explore the early days of Hulk Hogan’s career. It will focus more on his rise to the superstardom of Hulk’s career and is being described more as an origin story.

I’m not really sure what to make of this announcement. The involvement of Phillips and Hemsworth, has me thinking this might be a comedic movie and maybe even take a satiric route on Hogan’s rise. Phillips is known for comedy, and Hemsworth has shown constantly he has perfect comedic timing. Also wrestling is pretty entertaining and amusing so maybe a comedic take is the best way to look at this. Then again I think after we see Phillips’ Joker movie we will have a better idea what type of film we are getting.
