12 Days of Christmas Movie Watch Guide

It’s officially the 12 days of Christmas! Kind of…Depending on who you talk with (in my upbringing the 12 days technically start Christmas and roll into the New Year to represent the Wise Men’s 12 day journey) but we aren’t going to get into that deep conversation. Instead with only 12 days until Christmas 2021 I thought it would be fun to put together a watch guide.

Instead of telling you in a countdown some of my favorite Christmas films I think you should watch I decided I’d just give you a schedule or guide for each day.

So here is your breakdown for Christmas Movie Watching:

1st Day – Rankin/Bass Production (These are the classics. Even if you don’t think you’ve seen one of these films you have. they are the yearly TV specials shown that “Elf” mimics in the opening scenes)

2nd Day- Christmas Musical/Soundtrack (Go ahead an watch “White Christmas” or “Nightmare Before Christmas” or any film that has a great Christmas Soundtrack to it)

3rd Day – Christmas Animated Movie

4th Day – A Tim Burton Christmas Movie (Pick the Burton film…”Batman Returns”, “Edward Scissorhands”, “Nightmare Before Christmas” the early Tim Burton films have weird Christmas connections that make for fun watches)

5th Day – Rotten Tomatoes Rotten Christmas Film (This is self explanatory. Find that HORRIBLE film that critics and audiences hate. May I suggest “Deck the Halls” but the lists for this section is really deep)

6th Day – SNL Alumni Christmas Movie (Will Ferrell, Chevy Chase, Eddie Murphy and the list goes on and on for SNL members who all went on to make some form of a holiday film)

7th Day – Christmas Horror Movie (if you know me then you know I’m recommending a scary movie for the holidays. It can be anything from “Gremlins” to “Krampus” and so on)

8th Day – Netflix/Hallmark Cheesy Christmas Movie (Just find something cheesy and go)

9th Day – Christmas Comedy (For me this would be non-traditional like “Trading Places” or “Gremlins” but can also be any number of holiday favorites)

10th Day – Any version of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” (I personally would probably watch the animated classic but we have a few versions of this story to watch so grab your favorite)

11th Day – Any version of “A Christmas Carol” (My personal pick here is “Scrooged” but this classic story has been told over and over so grab your favorite & get in the spirit)

12th Day – Your Pick (It’s Christmas! Enjoy your all time favorite even if you already watched it on another.)

Have fun following along and Merry Christmas!
