10 Scary Movies to Watch for Halloween

With Halloween fast approaching I figured why not give you a list of some scary movies to watch for your movie marathons.

Here is my list of 10 Scary Movies you should watch for Halloween:

10.) The Lost Boys (A staple of the 80s’ with mullets, leather jackets and some great practical effects and gore)

9.) Sleepy Hollow (Maybe one of the last real good Tim Burton films. Its weird and fun and the perfect story for Halloween.)

8.) Poltergeist (This Tobe Hooper classic is a must see. If its your first time or 50th time that clown will still scare you.)

7.) House of 1000 Corpses (Rob Zombie makes his directorial debut and creates one of the nastiest, dirt under your fingers, homages to the classic Texas Chainsaw Massacre you’ll ever lay your eyes on.)

6.) Friday the 13th Part 1-Reboot (Pick your Friday the 13th film but either way you should watch at least one adventure of the kids at Camp Crystal Lake. My personal Favorites are Part 6, Part 4, Part 3, the original and 2009 Reboot.)

5.) Host (This one is on the streaming service Shudder and is the newest film released on my list. Filmed during the lockdown it’s all about a séance over a zoom call. Things obviously don’t go as planned for the friends when they disrespect the spirits. This is one of the scariest movies I’ve seen.)

4.) Scream (The film that changed the horror genre in 1996 is a must watch for the Halloween season. You can even go down the rabbits hole with 2 and 4. I’d recommend skipping part 3 even though it does have a Jay & Silent Bob cameo.)

3.) The Evil Dead (Sam Raimi & Bruce Campbell’s classic is a must see for the Halloween season. If its the original or Evil Dead 2, Army of Darkness or the reboot from a few years back you definitely want to enjoy the craziness of this franchise.)

2.) A Nightmare on Elm Street (Freddy Kreuger is one of the most recognizable horror icons and for good reason. You’ll never sleep again with this classic…Just avoid that 2010 reboot.)

1.) Halloween (I’m sure you figured out that this was going to be the number one pick and for good reason. Michael Myers and Halloween go hand in hand. Not to mention this film created the slasher genre that would create Friday the 13th, Nightmare and all those classics.)

Some honorable mentions include Hereditary, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, and the only foreign film I’ll mention Train to Busan, which is one of the best zombie movies I have seen in a long time.

Either way, enjoy your Halloween Viewings!
