Trial scheduled for Page County man accused of assaulting Mary Baldwin University student

STAUNTON, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – A trial date has been set for the Page County man accused of sexually assaulting a woman on the Mary Baldwin University campus earlier this year.

According to online records, the jury trial of Alex Paxton of Shenandoah is scheduled to begin on November 6 in Staunton Circuit Court.

Paxton was indicted yesterday by a grand jury on three charges, including abduction by force, rape and strangulation.

According to Staunton Police, the alleged attack took place February 17 in a dormitory room. Paxton was arrested in Harrisonburg 10 days later.

His next scheduled court appearance is October 28 for a pre-trial hearing.
