Stephen King announces retirement as County Administrator


HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) – The Rockingham County Administrator is retiring.

Stephen King has given the Board of Supervisors notice that he intends to retire as County Administrator, effective January 10th.

King has worked for the county for over 20 years, beginning in 2000 as Public Works Director. He was then selected to be Deputy County Administrator in 2004 and in 2016, the Board of Supervisors named him County Administrator.

In announcing his retirement, King stated that it’s been a good run, and he thanked the Board of Supervisors for giving him the opportunity to serve as Rockingham County Administrator.
