Staunton police investigating incident involving gunfire

STAUNTON, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) — The Staunton City Police Department is investigating an incident that occurred Tuesday afternoon in which shots were fired.

According to a news release, officers responded to multiple calls reporting gunfire in the 1700 block of W. Beverley St around 1:30 p.m. Upon arrival, police located a suspect and took them into custody.

No injuries were reported.

Staunton Police Sgt. Christopher Ammons said there is no ongoing threat to the community. Investigators are currently processing the scene and ask the public to avoid the area.

The investigation remains active. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Staunton Police Department at 540-332-3842.
