Staunton may lift water advisory today

STAUNTON, VA (Rocktown Now) — While Staunton’s Boil Water Advisory is still in place, authorities say it may be lifted sometime later today.

Staunton Public Works is currently expecting the second — and final — round of bacteria testing results from across the city to come in by mid-morning today.

However, Staunton residents should keep boiling water for drinking, cooking, and brushing teeth until further notice. It is not necessary to boil water for taking showers, washing clothes in washing machines, or running dishwashers on a sanitize setting.

Staunton City schools remain closed today as a result of the ongoing advisory.

An update from the city is expected by noon.
