Joseph “Joe” Brown Turner


Joseph “Joe” Brown Turner, 73, of Bergton died September 7, 2024 at the Charles & Brenda Shifflett Private Home Care in Penn Laird.

He was born September 22, 1950 in Rockingham Co. to the late Joseph B. and Jessie Stultz Turner.

Joe worked for Rockingham Co. in the maintenance dept., working at the Rockingham Co. Jail for 23 years. He was a member of the Broadway/Bergton Branch Emergency Squad and Broadway and Bergton Fire Departments and a volunteer for the U.S. Forest Service. He was a lifetime member of the Broadway Emergency Squad. He loved all things outdoors and was an avid woodworker.

On October 8,1988 he married the former LaVonne See who survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Tamsen Tonner and husband Chris of Las Vegas; three grandchildren, Jaycee, Jacen, Kira; a special niece, Leann Raines and numerous other nieces and nephews; special companion was his dog, Snowfoot.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, June Davis.

Following cremation, pastors Robert Curns, Lane Turner will conduct a memorial service at 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the Grandle Funeral Home Chapel in Broadway where the family will greet friends following the service.
