JMU Baseball drops second straight game at Georgia State

ATLANTA (JMU Athletics) – James Madison baseball was held off the scoreboard as Georgia State won, 10-0, on Saturday afternoon at the GSU Baseball Complex in Sun Belt Conference action.

The Dukes fell to 16-17 (6-8 Sun Belt), while the Panthers improved to 17-19 (6-8 Sun Belt).

The lone Duke with a base hit on the day was redshirt sophomore Clay Thompson, who went 1-for-3 with a walk to extend his hit streak to 12 games.

How It Happened
Second Inning
The Panthers loaded the bases and proceeded to take a 3-0 lead on the back of a sacrifice fly and a pair of singles.

Third Inning
GSU extended its lead to four games by scoring a run on a wild pitch.

Fourth Inning
After putting a pair of runners in scoring position, the Panthers scored two runs on a single and a squeeze bunt for a 6-0 lead.

Sixth Inning
A two-run double and a single pushed Georgia State’s lead to nine runs.

Game Notes
• With Ike Schmidly’s 10th stolen base of the season, the Dukes have six base stealers with at least 10 stolen bases. It’s the most double-digit base stealers in a single season since the 2011 JMU team had eight.
