James Madison Men’s Golf hires Michael Minnehan as assistant coach

HARRISONBURG, Va. (JMU Athletics) – James Madison men’s golf Head Coach Carter Cheves announced the hiring of Michael Minnehan as an assistant coach on Tuesday, Aug. 4.

Minnehan joins JMU after spending the last two seasons as an assistant at Old Dominion. Minnehan was a four-year player for the Monarchs from 2018-23.

“I am incredibly grateful to Coach Cheves for the opportunity to join the James Madison Men’s Golf program,” Minnehan said. “It was clear from our conversations that the culture, vision and commitment to excellence at JMU is outstanding and I am excited to be a part of it. I am looking forward to investing in our players and doing everything I can to contribute to the success of the program.”

“We’re excited to have Coach Minnehan join the program,” Cheves said. “He’s a great addition to the team, and we look forward to all his contributions going forward.”

Minnehan is a native of Rochester, N.Y., and attended McQuaid Jesuit High School.
