High speed chase ends with crash in Harrisonburg

HARRISONBURG, VA: (Rocktown Now) – A suspect is in custody after he led Virginia State Police on a high-speed on Interstate 81 in the Harrisonburg area.

Spokesman Matt Demlein reported that at around 11:15 Monday morning, deputies attempted to stop a suspect vehicle along I-81 northbound at mile marker 241. The vehicle refused to stop and a chase ensued.

Demlein added that the pursuit ended at around mile marker 244 when the driver attempted to split traffic and struck a tractor trailer and a pickup truck. 

The vehicle then overturned and came to rest in the median. The driver, whose name was not released, suffered minor injuries and was treated before being arrested.

The incident remains under investigation.
