EMU announces 2024-25 Men’s Basketball schedule

HARRISONBURG, Va. (EMU Athletics) – EMU Men’s Basketball Head Coach Melvin Felix, has announced the Runnin Royals’ 2024-25 schedule. The season will consist of 25 games for EMU, with 12 at home and 13 away from Yoder Arena.

The Royals will open up their season with a pair of tournaments. First, they’ll be in North Carolina at the NC Wesleyan Classic, where they’ll take on the hosts on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 7 pm before wrapping up the weekend against Greenboro College on Nov. 10. They’ll be off for a week before taking part in the Bridgewater Classic, hosted by Bridgewater College. They’ll play Greensboro College on Nov. 16 at 4 pm and finish the weekend against Southern Virginia on Nov. 17.

Messiah comes to town on Nov. 20 for EMU’s home opener, which is followed up with a trip to Mary Baldwin on Nov. 23 to wrap up the month of November.

December opens ODAC play for the Royals, as they head to Virginia Beach to take on Virginia Wesleyan on Dec. 4. They’ll play SVU for the second time, this time at home, on Dec. 7, the start of three straight home games. They’ll also take on Lancaster Bible on Dec. 13 and Randolph Macon on Dec. 16 to round out 2024.

2025 sees EMU head to Shenandoah on Jan. 4, followed by a home showdown with Lynchburg on Jan. 8. EMU then heads south to take on 2023-24 Final Four participant, Guilford College, on Jan. 11. The Panthers of Ferrum College come to Yoder Arena on Jan. 15 before a road trip to Lynchburg happens for EMU on Jan. 18, to take on Randolph College. ODAC Championship finalists, Washington and Lee, will visit the ‘Burg on Jan. 22. The Royals will end January with a pair of games, first traveling to Averett on Jan. 25 and then hosting Roanoke for Rowdy Royals on Jan. 29.

February starts with a tough test as Hampden-Sydney, a team that played in the DIII National Championship game last season, comes to town on Feb. 1. That’s followed up by back-to-back road games, first against cross-town rival Bridgewater on Feb. 5, and then Randolph Macon on Feb. 8. One more non-conference game appears on the slate on Feb. 12 as EMU takes on Mary Washington. The season then wraps up with three final ODAC games: Feb. 15 at home against Guilford, Feb. 19 home against Shenandoah and finally, Feb. 22 on the road at Hampden-Sydney.
