NEW ORLEANS (JMU Athletics) – James Madison women’s soccer forward Ginny Lackey has been named the Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon.

The recognition marks JMU’s first weekly award of the season, and the fourth of Lackey’s career.

The award follows a three-goal week for Lackey. The fourth-year player registered her second straight brace in the Dukes’ 2-0 shutout win over Arkansas State on Wednesday, then returned home to score against Old Dominion on Sunday, marking seven straight matches with a goal and helping JMU win 2-1 over the Monarchs.

Lackey’s goal against ODU tied her with Kim Argy (2001-05) for fifth in program history for total goals with 34. Through six conference games, Lackey leads the league in goals (8), points (17), and game-winning goals (5).

JMU will remain at home this week, hosting Louisiana Tech in Sun Belt action on Thursday, Oct. 15. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
