ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Several hundred homes in the Valley are still without power on Memorial Day following Sunday night’s storm that brought down several trees across the area.

The Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative’s power outage map showed that, as of noon, there are more than 21 reported outages across Rockingham County. Power is expected to be restored by the late afternoon or early evening, according to the map.

Earlier this morning, the app showed that just over 300 of SVEC’s members reported outages. Most were in western Rockingham County, between Briery Branch and Hinton.

Meanwhile, an online map through Dominion Energy showed this morning that the worst of the outages were centered north of Staunton where roughly 350 customers in the College Park neighborhood were in the dark.

Most are in western Rockingham County, between Briery Branch and Hinton.

Crews from both providers are on the ground working to restore power.
