Charles Franklin Baker, 90, of Keezletown, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2024.

 

Mr. Baker was born September 21, 1933, in Rockingham County and was the son of the late Charles E. “Jack” and Elizabeth “Liz” Mitchell Baker. He was also preceded in death by a son, Kennie Baker; grandchildren, Teylan Baker and Gabriel Morris, and a great-grandchild, Cassie.

 

Frank was a graduate of Weyers Cave High School and served four years in the United States Navy. After 30 years of service, he retired from Reynolds Metals in Grottoes where he completed his career as a supervisor. He later went on to work at E.A. Breeden as a “Gopher” for 10 years and later Beam Brothers Trucking for 12 years. Frank was a member of Keezletown United Methodist Church. He enjoyed volunteering his time to help with sporting events at Spotswood High School. In 2013, he was inducted into the SHS Booster Club Hall of Fame. He also enjoyed golfing and bowling.

 

Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Carolyn Phillips Baker. Also surviving are two daughters, Karen Powell (Tom), and Beth Morris (Steve); brothers, Everette Baker, and Don Baker (Nancy); sister, Dorothy Miller (Dahl); grandchildren, Tommy Powell (Laurie), Timmy Powell, Morgan Bishop (Cam), and Brayden Morris, as well as great-grandchildren, Madison, Jadyn and Jace Powell, and Triton and Rylynn Bishop.

 

A funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with Pastor Joel Robinette officiating. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Keezletown United Methodist Church, 1456 Indian Trail Road, Keezletown, VA 22832 or Keezletown Cemetery 3562 Keezletown Road, Keezletown, VA 22832.
