FOREST, Va. (BC Athletics) – The Bridgewater College football team swept the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Football Players of the Week after the program’s historic win over No. 25 Hampden-Sydney on Saturday.

Jaicere Bateman took the award on offense, Shalin Green was awarded the honor on defense and Agustin Miguel earned the accolade for special teams.

Bateman had a historic day leading the BC offense. The Lynchburg, Va. native tallied five total touchdowns to tie a program record. Bateman tallied 179 yards through the air with three scores to go along with 133 yards on the ground and a pair of rushing scores.

Green made a pair of big plays for the BC defense that impacted the outcome of the instant classic. Hampden-Sydney was marching down the field on its first drive of the afternoon, but a bad snap hit the deck and Green recovered it for the Eagles in BC territory. Later in the game, Green set up the game-tying drive with a strip-sack of Carter Sido on fourth down and BC fell on it to get a short field. Bridgewater went on to score and win.

Miguel’s clutch 26-yard field goal as time expired secured the victory. Miguel was also 6-of-6 on PATs and also had the leg for a 48-yard field goal, but missed it just to to the right as he secures his second honor of the year.

BC’s victory was the program’s first over a ranked opponent under head coach Scott Lemn.

The Eagles conclude the regular season on Saturday as they host Guilford at 2 p.m.
