LEXINGTON, Va. (BC Athletics) – The Bridgewater College baseball team fell to Washington & Lee on the road by a final score of 13-7 Wednesday night in conference action.

Score: Washington & Lee Generals (WLU) 13, Bridgewater Eagles (BC) 7
Records: BC (15-3, 0-3), WLU (9-6-1, 4-3-1)

How It Happened
• BC started out slow, and WLU attacked early and often getting on the board first and never looking back. The Generals popped a run up on the board with an RBI single in the third inning. The Eagles faced fielding miscues as the Generals pounced. Three more runs scored off errors to start out with a 4-0 lead.
• WLU extended the lead in the fourth inning with another RBI single. The Eagles had a hole to climb out of heading into the fifth inning and created offensive action slowly. Trent Holland helped BC get the offense activated, smacking a ball in play to reach on fielder’s choice and knocking in Jake Harris. Jakson Walter followed shortly after with a scored run from a wild pitch to dwindle the deficit to 5-2.
• Each time the Eagles added a run, WLU responded in the bottom of the frame. The Generals got the bases loaded and earned an RBI walk. Next at bat, WLU tacked on another run with a walk. An additional eighth run was attached to the board with an RBI single. WLU held firm control and continued to add more separation to make the advantage stand at 11-2.
• The Eagles attempted a late-game rally with four runs across three straight innings. Ashton Smith and Bransen Hensley collected a pair of RBI singles. Then, Holland hustled out a play to reach safe on first and score in Walter while Bryce Suters cracked an RBI single to score in Smith for the seventh run.
• The Generals successfully spaced out the late-game charge by the Eagles with a pair of insurance runs in the eighth inning to finish with a 13-7 final score.

Game Notes
• Bridgewater struggled in the field, marking six errors.
• Jakson Walter led the Eagles with three hits in four at bats.
• The Eagles went through a total of seven pitchers as Lucas Cash was relieved after going 3.2 innings with six hits, three earned runs, and no strikeouts.
