HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – The Weyers Cave man who was convicted of murdering his brother nearly two years ago was sentenced to 43 consecutive years in prison.

Richard Dwayne Brunk was sentenced to 40 years on a first-degree murder charge, with an additional three years for using a firearm while committing a felony. He was convicted on those counts during a trial last November.

Brunk was arrested in June 2022 after shooting and killing his brother, Ronnie, following a dispute.

Incidentally, Brunk will be back in court in June to face two additional charges in a murder-for-hire plot.

Rockingham County Commonwealth’s Attorney Marsha Garst was reportedly one of his targets.
