FOREST, Va. (BC Athletics) – Bridgewater Men’s Soccer Freshman goalkeeper Zane Kowalski and junior midfielder Riley Queen swept conference player of the week honors, announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
Kowalski, a freshman keeper from Midland, N.C. played 90 minutes between the pipes for the Eagles in both conference road matches and faced 32 shots. In the 3-1 victory over Shenandoah on Wednesday, Kowalski faced 15 shots, seven of those being on target. He stopped five and only allowed one goal. Despite Shenandoah outshooting BC in both halves, the Eagles still walked away with the win.
In the 2-1 victory over Randolph-Macon, Kowalski faced 16 shots, with 11 coming in in the second half. Despite the pressure, Kowalski made 10 saves and only conceded one goal in the waning minutes.
Riley Queen scored two goals in the 3-1 victory over Shenandoah. Queen scored his first goal in the third minute of the match off an assist from Erick Lobo. He scored again in the 60th minute of the match off an assist from Trey Widrick.
In the 2-1 victory over the Yellow Jackets, Queen scored in the 51st minute. Queen has recorded at least a point in the last five contests.
Kowalski, Queen, and the Eagles play their penultimate home match of the season against Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 4 p.m.
