BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College women’s soccer team fell to Randolph-Macon 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon.

How It Happened
• RMC opened the game with possession and marched down the field and fired a shot just wide of the goal seven seconds in. The Eagles were able to swing the momentum staring in the 11th minute as Laura Narby fired a shot on target that was turned away by Erin Morris. BC settled in and had multiple opportunities including a shot by Skyler Daum that was narrowly saved by Morris.
• The Yellow Jackets had their first chance in the 16th minute, but a save by Rylee Asiello kept the game scoreless. BC kept pushing as shots from Narby and Sophia Phillips got blocked on their way in. Bridgewater had more chances, but none seemed to find the cage as the shooting lanes were plugged at the last second nearly every attempt. RMC flipped the field and a failed BC clear resulted in a long shot from Lauren Brokaw that found the upper right corner of the cage and went past Aiello for the score to make it 1-0 just before the half.
• BC kept firing, but nothing got past Morris. Narby rifled a pair of shots on goal in the 49th minute, but Harris still kept the ball in front. RMC flipped the field after the second save and earned a corner kick. On an eerily similar play to the first tally of the day, a failed BC clear found its way to Lillian Holt who buried her shot for RMC to make it 2-0 with 29 minutes to play.
• The Eagles were not going to be put away quietly as they continued to press on. BC fired off multiple shots in the 69th minute, but yet again the Yellow Jackets stepped in front of them. The best Bridgewater scoring chance of the day came in the 82nd minute as Hannah England fired a shot that got past all of the Yellow Jackets, but nailed the ost in the upper right corner. Cassandra Villafan scooped up the rebound and fired a shot to the empty right side of the cage, but a RMC defender cleared the ball off the goal line at the last possible second to keep it a 2-0 game. Narby and Daum each made runs in the final five minutes for BC keeping the pedal down, but neither shot found the target.

Match Notes
• Narby fired off nine shots for the Eagles including four on goal. Daum also registered six and Villafan rifled four, but none were able to find nylon.
• Asiello made a pair of saves for the Eagles, but Morris showed off in the cage for RMC with six saves to secure the shutout.
• The Eagles held a healthy 28-10 lead in the shot count including a 7-4 edge in shots on goal.
• The 28 shots is the second most for the Eagles this season and the third time BC has registered 25 or more shots.
