LYNCHBURG, Va. (BC Athletics) – Bridgewater College men’s volleyball fell to Randolph in three sets on the road Wednesday night.

The Bridgewater College Eagles (BC) have dropped to 3-19 overall and 1-7 in conference play, and the Randolph College Wildcats (RC) have moved to 14-7 overall and 6-4 after a win to Shenandoah prior to Bridgewater’s match earlier today.

How It Happened
• The Eagles got off to a slow start while the Wildcats jumped out with an early lead. Randolph powered a forceful offense leading to minimal space for the Eagles to find a comeback surge. BC trailed after a five-point run for RC and continued slipping in offensive attacks. BC was stopped in offensive traction despite hard-willed effort by Aiden Weaver with three strong kills. RC continued to lead with consecutive scoring runs late in the set. The Wildcats pushed away for the opening set at 25-11.
• In the second set, the Wildcats slipped away from the Eagles to get the set going. At 4-4, the Wildcats denied offensive looks and countered with a strong offensive sequence. Short offensive scoring bursts continued to pile on as BC battled to stay within reach. Attempted scoring rallies unfolded for BC in the middle of the set with Connor Cayer laying down a kill and Jeffrey Prevost landing a service ace, but RC recovered with pressured net play and solid attacks. RC nailed a four-point scoring run to take control of the second set and finish with a 25-14 set score.
• BC got an edge to start the third set with an aggressive kill by Corbin Green, but the momentum switched back to RC in the next three sequences off three-straight kills. More bursts of consecutive scoring runs ensued, and BC was left facing an obstacle. Late in the set, the Wildcats broke away behind a five-point scoring run to close out the final set, 25-16.

Match Notes
• The Eagles were denied success at the net as the Wildcats put up 11 total blocks while BC did not record a block.
• Aiden Weaver posted the match-high kills total with nine kills.
• Bridgewater was challenged offensively with 20 kills and 20 attack errors to Randolph’s 34 kills and nine attack errors.

Up Next
The Eagles are back in action on Saturday, March 14 to take on Averett and Warren Wilson at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
