How It Happened
The turnovers continue to be a thorn in the side of the Bridgewater Eagles. The Maroons got out in transition quickly and capitalized on BCE’s offensive miscues throughout the contest. In the first 20 minutes, Roanoke applied immense pressure on the Eagles’ offense and in turn, found open looks right out of the gate. In seven minutes of action, ROA poured in an 8-0 scoring run. Back-to-back three pointer rang in for the Maroons, leaving an 11-point run in the first 10 minutes.

The three-point shots continued to find the bottom of the net for the Maroons as they ran away with an efficient shooting performance. The Eagles struggled to stop the long-distance barrage and found themselves in a hole and a 15-point deficit with a minute to go. ROA led the way at the end of the half with a 36-21 advantage.

To start the second half, more of the costly turnovers got the best of BCE. In the first two minutes, another three-point shot swished through off a turnover to log an 18-point lead. The Eagles turned the shooting around to narrow the deficit with aggressive play from Mous Diop and Maleek Richardson.

The Maroons would not go away, controlling the pace of play and ball security. Jahmir Brown fought through the 26-point defecit with aggressive drives to the rim, but the commanding momentum outweighed the relentless effort. Roanoke closed out the contest comfortably with the final score, 74-57.
