BRIDGEWATER, Va. (BC Athletics) – Bridgewater men’s basketball fell to Penn State Harrisburg, 79-66 in the home opener Tuesday night.

The Eagles have dropped to 1-2 overall this season, while Penn State Harrisburg (PSUH) earned its first win of the season moving to 1-3.

How It Happened
On Tuesday night, the game was filled with a ton of anticipation as fresh new faces entered the court for the Bridgewater Eagles (BCE) in the first home game of the season. However, costly turnovers in both halves of the game continued to put the Eagles at a disadvantage in finding any hold of solid momentum. In the first half, they stayed closely within the reach of the Nittany Lions, but the Lions found answers early and did not make it easy for the Eagles.

PSUH jumped out to a strong 20-13 lead, and from there kept on the gas, making the transition offense tough for BCE. Mason Ramey worked in some strong finishes while Jahmir Brown also contributed on the offensive end, but PSUH did not budge. It soon bursted to a 14-point lead at 37-23, and the Lions closed the first half with a healthy advantage at 38-31.

In the second half, the Lions pressed on the gas some more despite efforts from Mous Diop, Brown, and Ramey. A 10-plus lead was maintained for much of the second half and gradually the lead was increased to a commanding 20-point lead at 71-51. Ramey helped slim the margins down with a tough bucket on a tip-in shot, making the score,75-62. However, PSUH hung in and finished out the game with the win at 79-66.

Game Notes
• Jahmir Brown led the game with 21 points along with five boards and two assists.
• Penn State Harrisburg shared the rock more efficiently with 17 assists to Bridgewater’s seven.
• The Lions depended on bench help with 39 points from players coming off the bench. The Eagles finished with 17 bench points, respectively.
