Harrisonburg, Va –  Summer travel season is about to begin and traveling by plane costs an average of $363 per trip.  Choosing the wrong airline can add aggravation to the total bill.

WalletHub compared the 9 largest U.S. airlines, plus three regional carriers, across 15 metrics. They range from cancellation and delay rates to baggage mishaps and in-flight comfort. They also considered costs in relation to in-flight amenities for the sake of fairness.

WalletHub ranked Alaska Airlines best overall and the safest.  Delta was most reliable.  The survey said you’ll be most comfortable on a JetBlue flight and that ExpressJet and Envoy Air are the most pet-friendly.
