STUARTS DRAFT, Va. — An 18-year-old is behind bars after authorities say he shot himself and another man early yesterday in Augusta County.

In a release, Augusta County sheriff Donald Smith said deputies responded to reports of a shooting just before 2 A-M in the 2900 block of Stuarts Draft Highway.

He said officers discovered an 18-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the back, and another with an injured hand. Both were hospitalized in stable condition.

One of the “victims” was later determined to be the actual shooter, and Amvion Andre Barbour, of Charlottesville, was arrested on one charge of felony reckless handling of a firearm causing serious injury.

He is held at Middle River Regional Jail without bond.
