HARRISONBURG, Va. –  A crash that closed half of Interstate 81 yesterday afternoon in the Harrisonburg area was a deadly one.

Sgt. Brent Coffey with Virginia State Police says a little after three o’clock, troopers responded to the wreck in the southbound direction of the highway at the 245 exit ramp in Rockingham County.

Coffey says a southbound tractor-trailer took exit at mile marker 245 but had to stop on the ramp due to traffic.  That’s when a car rear-ended the tractor-trailer.

Coffey says one person was killed in the crash, but did not offer any further details.
