State Police Investigating Fatal Crash in Nelson County

NELSON COUNTY, Va – Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that happened over the weekend in Nelson County.

Spokesperson Shelby Crouch reported the accident happened just before 4:30 Saturday morning on U-S Route 29 near the intersection of Route 6.

A 2007 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling south on Route 29 when it ran off the left side of the road, struck an embankment and overturned.

The driver, 34-year-old Danielle Jones of Charlottesville, died at the scene. Crouch said she was wearing a seatbelt.
