MCGAHEYSVILLE, Va. — Rockingham County supervisors seem to have cleared the way for a large development project at Massanutten Resort.

Last night, the Rockingham County Board of Supervisors authorized several rezoning requests by Great Eastern Resort Corporation that would allow them to construct about 18-hundred homes at Massanutten Resort over the next two decades.

The project will rezone 400 acres of property for permanent housing, timeshares and short-term rentals. Four years ago, Great Eastern pulled its timeshares from the Massanutten Property Owners Association.

The company must now submit site plans to the appropriate state and county agencies.
