Parts of Virginia classified as extreme drought

HARRISONBURG VA:  (WSVA) Portions of Virginia are now being classified as in “extreme drought.”


The National Drought Mitigation Center has now reclassified portions of the Old Dominion as suffering from extreme drought. Specifically, 87% of Augusta County and 40% of Rockbridge County are now in extreme drought, while 36% of Rockingham County and 31% of Page County are in the same category. Looking at the big picture, 56% of Virginia is now suffering from drought of one type or another.
