HARRISONBURG, Va. –  A Broadway man has avoided standing trial for murder.

Online records indicate that instead of taking his chances at trial, 21-year old Pierce Delawder pleaded guilty to the reduced charge of voluntary manslaughter and a weapons count.  In return, another gun charge and two drug counts were dropped.

Delawder is accused in the June 27th shooting death of 44-year-old William Reeves Junior of Grottoes following an altercation at the 340 Quick Stop.

He’s due back in court for a sentencing hearing August 31st.
