New Market, Va. – A more than 200 year old home in New Market burned this morning.

Deputy Chief  of Shenandoah County Fire and Rescue Bill Streett says crews were called out to Congress Street just after 4:15 this morning.  Streett says the house was one of the original log homes constructed along Congress Street and dated back to 1806.

Streett says two people were home at the time and were able to escape.  One suffered minor injuries, but declined medical assistance.

The cause of the fire was accidental, being blamed on a woodstove.
