HARRISONBURG, Va. — Harrisonburg’s new Rocktown High School now has a new logo.

The image, which features sharp edges and a sleek red, black and white design, was the product of a joint effort between Harrisonburg City Public Schools and students at James Madison University.

Adrienne Hooker, a professor at J-M-U’s School of Media Arts and Design, said that the school’s mascot Rocky the Raptor was a nice touch, but it still needed more. She said that while mascots are fun, any reputable school needs to brand itself as an academic institution first.

Some editions of the logo include three guiding words for the new school: Belong. Believe. Achieve.
