Harrisonburg Police Officers Involved in Shooting Will Not be Charged

HARRISONBURG, Va – The Harrisonburg Police officers involved in this past weekend’s shooting are off the hook.

So says Commonwealth’s Attorney for the city and the county Marsha Garst, who stated in an email to the media Monday afternoon that after an extensive review of all the evidence such as body worn cameras and police vehicle dash cameras, she has determined that no criminal charges will be placed against the officers.

Meanwhile, Garst added that she has authorized a number of criminal charges against the suspect in the case, 30-yea-rold Oliverio Patricio Garcia, who currently remains in critical condition at U-V-A Medical Center.
