Verona, Va – Augusta County authorities arrested a couple Wednesday afternoon on robbery charges.

At approximately 3 pm, a deputy was clearing up from a traffic stop when a man stopped to report a “robbery” in progress that was occurring down the road.

The deputy followed the complainant until such time as the man pulled over to report that the suspect(s) had just passed them. A license plate was provided.

The deputy located the suspect vehicle in the 2700 block of Lee Hwy and made contact with the occupants, Tyler Beierle and Lisa Higgins.

Further investigation ensued before both were taken into custody and charged with burglary and grand larceny. Items stolen from the burglary were found in the car and subsequently returned to the owner.

The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office said they appreciate the citizen’s help that saw what was happening and took action. That person is to be commended.
