Albemarle Police Seek Fugitive Who Escaped Ankle Monitor

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Albemarle County police are searching for a fugitive who slipped an ankle monitoring device and escaped from U-V-A Medical Center.

In a release, authorities said 38-year-old James Allen Morris, was arrested one week ago on warrants out of Fluvanna County, including felony eluding and failure to appear.

Morris was reportedly hospitalized at U-V-A on Monday, where he was ordered to wear an ankle monitor without police supervision. However, police say they were alerted later that day that the monitor had been removed, and Morris was gone.

Anyone with information leading to his recapture is asked to call Albemarle County Police, or CrimeStoppers.
